The live music shutdown of 2020 couldn’t stop Holly Bowling from hitting the road. Back in September, the Ghost Light keyboardist began The Wilderness Sessions tour, which saw her travel the country, performing solo sets from idyllic landscapes in national parks from coast to coast. Now, fans will be able to get a look inside the Wilderness Sessions tour with a new behind-the-scenes documentary.
What started off as a six-week run of shows later ballooned to 11 as Bowling and her husband Jeffrey found themselves in South Dakota following the initial run. With a cross-country drive ahead of the couple en route to their California home, Bowling delivered another five additional weeks of free livestreams with leg two of The Wilderness Sessions.

“When we aired The Wilderness Sessions, the one thing I heard over and over again was ‘I’d love to see a video showing how these were created,'” Bowling said in the video’s description. “So I made one!”

Bowling herself narrates the documentary as she gives viewers an intimate look at how an adventurous concept like The Wilderness Sessions became a reality. In addition to the documentary, Bowling has also released audio of her set at Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats, which originally aired on September 17th, on streaming platforms. Pre-orders for vinyl copies of the Salt Flats set—which Bowling identified as her favorite from the tour—are now open on the pianist’s Bandcamp page.
