David Letterman To Induct Pearl Jam Into Rock Hall In Place Of Neil Young Following Illness

The retired Late Show host, David Letterman, will be inducting Pearl Jam into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this Friday. Letterman will be replacing Neil Young at the 32nd Annual Induction Ceremony following illness. In a statement issued this morning, the Rock Hall announced that Young would regrettably be absent from the ceremony but that it was thrilled that Letterman had accepted the offer to induct the Seattle rock band.

Letterman’s late-night show was a popular gig for Pearl Jam, who performed on the show seven times including one ten-song set back in 2006. This number also does not count solo performances by Eddie Vedder, who also appeared throughout the years.

On the Rock Hall induction roster, Letterman will be joining Snoop Dogg who will be inducting Tupac ShakurJackson Browne who will be inducting Joan Baez, and others. The induction ceremony will also contain a Prince tribute by Lenny Kravitz and a ceremony honoring lifetime achievement recipient Nile Rodgers that will be led by Pharrell. While the event occurs this Friday, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will air on HBO on April 29th at 8 p.m. (ET/PT).
