Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd will headline the Coachella slot vacated earlier this week by Ye, festival organizer Goldenvoice confirmed on Tuesday. This announcement comes one day after the artist formerly known as Kanye West pulled out of the festival for unspecified reasons.
The headliners for the festival, which is set to occur April 15thâ17th and 22ndâ24th at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA, are now Harry Styles (Friday), Billie Eilish (Saturday), and Swedish House Madia with The Weeknd (Sunday).
âIâm so looking forward to this moment with Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd finishing out the Sunday night slot this year,â said Paul Tollett, president/CEO of Goldenvoice. âCoachella has a special relationship with Abel [Tesfaye] and Iâm so thankful to have this upcoming performance with these iconic artists all on the same stage.â

When Coachella originally announced its lineup in January, Swedish House Mafia’s name was conspicuously placed at the bottom billed as “Returning to the Desert”, rather than attached to any day in particular. According to Variety, a statement from Goldenvoice made days later hinted that the promoter was hedging its bets in case West pulled out like he did days before the festival in 2019. Ye did ultimately perform, but only during the second weekend of the festival, premiering his first-ever public Sunday Service on April 21st at 9 a.m..
Meanwhile, The Weekndâwho headlined the festival in 2018âwas not included in the original 2022 lineup. The Canadian singer has been working on his HBO series The Idol for the past several months and is set to start a stadium tour in July.
The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia released the single “Moth To The Flame” earlier this year, and are both managed by SalXCo, the same team behind fellow top Sunday performer Doja Cat.
