Pigeons Playing Ping Pong teamed up with Magic Beans to ring in the new year with a pair of shows at Denver’s Ogden Theatre. Each night featured an opening set from Magic Beans followed by Pigeons’ headlining sets, but the celebration didn’t reach its peak until the two bands joined forces to welcome 2026 with a special Magic Pigeons collaboration.
After PPPP’s obligatory countdown to midnight, balloon drop, and “Auld Lang Syne”, “Scrambled” Greg Ormont led the combined ensemble through a funky and soulful rendition of CeeLo Green‘s “F— You”. The band then shifted tone with a cover of Marvin Gaye‘s “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)”, followed by “F.U.”, borrowed Johnny Cash favorite “Cocaine Blues”, and Stealers Wheel‘s “Stuck in the Middle with You”.

They rounded out the collaborative set with one more PPPP original, “Sir Real”, and covers of Talking Heads‘ “Once in a Lifetime” and the Rolling Stones‘ “Miss You”, with the lyrics altered to reference Magic Beans (“We’ve been playing with the Beans / We’ve been jamming out for years / Lord, I I miss you”).
