Weird Phishes—the hybrid tribute blending the idiosyncratic catalogs of Radiohead and Phish—have shared a new live video of the band sandwiching The Bends tracks throughout a sprawling “My Friend, My Friend”. The release comes as Weird Phishes prepare for a run of spring tour dates with Night Zero, the jam band supergroup featuring members of Dopapod and Twiddle [get tickets].
The “My Friend, My Friend” video comes from Weird Phishes’ first-ever full-album performance of The Bends, recorded on November 22nd, 2025, at The Middle East Downstairs in Cambridge, MA. Last fall marked the band’s fourth full-album showcase, following live tellings of Ok Computer (the band’s debut show in 2019), In Rainbows, and Kid A.

The entire 17-minute video is a highlight reel of tension-and-release and upending expectations, concepts essential to Weird Phishes’ eclectic identity. Just when the rising cacophony of MFMF threatens to turn a “Nice Dream” into a bad trip, the band takes a hard turn into a funky “Just” dance party. Bassist Pat Pingeton and keyboardist Derek “D-Rokk” Dupius lead the slap-bass and clavinet jam, with drummer PJ Holaday, guitarist Alex Glover, and finally fiddler Josh Knowles pushing it over the edge for one final climactic segue back into “My Friend, My Friend” to close the song.
“This mashup in particular was probably the reason we decided to do The Bends as our most recent album set,” Glover told Live For Live Music. “I’ve kind of always wanted to incorporate ‘My Friend, My Friend’ as part of a mashup since it’s such a journey, and ‘Nice Dream’ and ‘Just’ appearing next to each other on the album was a huge aha moment.
“The entire theme of Phish’s Rift album is centered around a dream,” Glover continued, “and ‘My Friend, My Friend’ seems to be when that dream descends into something darker/more personal. Whether or not it was intentional on Radiohead’s side, ‘Nice Dream’ > ‘Just’ has a very similar arc on The Bends album. So using sections of MFMF as connective tissue between ‘Nice Dream’ and ‘Just’ just felt right. This one quickly rose to be part of our own internal Mount Rushmore of mashups; our other favorite go-tos are ‘Paranoid Android’/’Jigsaw’/’Birds of a Feather’, ‘Stash’/’Optimistic’, and ‘Reckoner’/’Carini’.”

“We obviously didn’t write any of these songs,” Glover added, “but every time we get together to do arrangements and mashups, we do everything we possibly can to make them feel original. Someone at a show told me it almost felt like a DJ set, and I think that’s a pretty cool outlook. People at our shows who are familiar with our source material (Radiohead + Phish) probably experience more surprises than almost any other concert they could attend, and that’s the itch that we really aim to scratch while arranging things.”
