The Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL) have announced the details for their fifth-annual Grateful Dead Night at the Flyers at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
Ticket packages for the theme night, set to take place surrounding the Flyers’ Tuesday, April 14th game against the Montreal Canadiens, will include a pregame concert by Grateful Dead tribute band Splintered Sunlight in the arena’s East Food Hall and a commemorative t-shirt designed by Wes Knorr of Westernsun Media Design (pictured above). Musician-themed nights have become commonplace at professional hockey arenas in recent years. The Los Angeles Kings and the Nashville Predators have already hosted themed game nights this season surrounding the Grateful Dead and the band’s late singer and guitarist, Jerry Garcia.
In January, the Flyers also hosted the NHL’s first-ever Phish Night at the Flyers, which featured pre-show and post-show Phish cover band performances and various in-game tie-ins. The event also generated $10k for Phish’s WhaterWheel Foundation. The New York Rangers later followed suit with a Phish Night of their own in March.
